be painted or coated over with any chemical that would otherwise
be appropriate for metal surfaces.

Rust
Trapper/primer. Rust
converting Latex Primer
Description: A single component, specially formulated emulsion and
additive combination that transforms rust into a black corrosion protective paint film. It
actually converts the rust on the surface to an integral part of the
newly created, rust inhibiting finish. You can watch the change take place
in about 20 minutes.
Advantages: Stops rust dead in its tracks. Can be used as primer on steel or iron
products. Minimal preparation needed, not necessary to take surface down to bare metal as
product utilizes rust present to form compound with metal. Can be used on
non-rusted bare metal to prevent rust from forming. Metal needs no etching
or preparatory coating. Easy to apply relatively inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Can be used as primer on
aluminum but will not penetrate coating. When applying
with brush or roller must be careful not to contaminate more
product than you are going to immediately use. Although not
designed to be a top coating, it can be used as final
coating. However a good top coating (of enamel, acrylic,
epoxy, urethane, etc.) will last many years longer. Should
not be allowed to freeze.
Usage:
Usage: Tanks, Fences, Automobiles, Pipes and Joints, Ships,
Buildings, Tools, Oil Well Rigs, and Machinery.
Preparation: A: The rusted surface must be dry and free from residue, oil,
grease, or wax. Remove loose scale. It is not necessary to sand remaining rust.
Application: Product can be applied
by brush, roller or sprayed. Shake contents. IMPORTANT: To avoid
contamination, do not work out of this container. Pour the amount needed into a separate plastic, glass, or paper container. Do NOT
return the unused material to the original container. Coverage 350’ to
400’ per gal.
Apply a liberal first coat to the rusted area. Do not thin. Allow to
dry about 20 minutes. Apply 2nd coat. Do not apply to a hot surface or
at less than 50 degrees F. If top coating is desired, allow to dry 24
hours and paint with epoxy, urethane, acrylic, alkyd enamel, or other
finish recommended for metal surfaces.
